The State Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, constitute an Authority to be known as the Planning and Development Authority ( hereinafter referred to as the Authority ) for the purposes of this Act, with jurisdiction over such area as may be specified in the said notification, and different Authorities may be constituted for different areas.

The Authority shall be a body corporate having perpetual succession and a common seal with power to acquire, hold and dispose of properties, both moveable and immoveable, and to enter into any agreement, and shall, by its name, sue and be sued.
